Post Podcast Interview :: Arlene Caffrey

Did you have the chance to check out the latest podcast episode with Irish pole babe Arlene Caffrey?! If not, you can watch or listen to it here, then check out more from Arlene below!

Where did you grow up, and what is your current home town?
I grew up in the middle of nowhere in rural Ireland – a place called Togher which in on the North East coast. It’s a beautiful unspoiled place with everything you’d imagine rural Ireland to be: lots of cattle and sheep farms, fields of potatoes growing, a picturesque beach with water too cold to swim in, set against the backdrop of the magical Cooley Mountains. This is still one of my favourite places in the world because it is so quiet, remote and full of natural beauty. I now live on the outskirts of Dublin city, which is also wonderful but not quite as peaceful or beautiful!

Can you share a favorite pole dance photo of yourself?
This image was created by my good friend Jass Foley, in one take. I love this shot because of the movement captured perfectly, awesome lighting, lovely pointed toes, and because I feel it sums up my pole dance personality!

And a favorite non-pole-life photo?
This is an outtake from a photoshoot with Rick Taylor as my burlesque persona ‘La Petite Mort’. I like this photo because it sums up my nerdy and silly personality. I don’t like to take myself seriously.

What’s your go-to pole move?
I love dancing so dips and pirouettes are my go-to, but I also can sleep in my inside leg hangs. You can’t beat the classic moves!

Give us a sexy floorwork song.
This song never gets old (and I am a massive Interpol fan!)

What’s a YouTube pole dance video we should check out?
Alethea Austin’s USPDF 2012 Optional Performance – still brings tears to my eyes all these years later! What an emotive performance!

Give us a song that makes you want to immediately strip off your clothes and jump on the pole.
