Post-Podcast Interview :: Alex Shchukin

Let's hear it for the booooyyy... Alex Shchukin, specifically! New podcast is live, and this week we have Ukrainian pole dancer Alexander Shchukin. On this episode, we talk about how Alex, a life-long dancer, was originally introduced to pole dance by his wife Katia; his experience traveling and competing around the world and now running his own camp Alex Pole Camp, and world championship at his Alex Pole Festival; and we also discuss his vision of elevating pole so it appeals to an audience outside of our own industry. We also have guest appearances throughout the interview by Alex’s beautiful wife and adorable daughter, so be ready to meet the whole Shchukin family! And something we’ve never done before, but we have an addendum to our interview sliced in to the original! So since our original interview, some controversy emerged in the pole community involving some not cool hate speech, and since Alex was called out, he shares his views and response with us, and because you know we don’t have haters on this podcast, it’s all about love. Check out the full episode here, then read more from Alex below!

Where did you grow up, and what is your current home town?
Dnipro (Ukraine), but now I live in Lloret de Mar (seaside town near Barcelona)

Can you share a favorite pole dance photo of yourself?

And a favorite non-pole-life photo?

What’s your go-to pole move?
When I just started pole dance I created a move that didn`t go around much because it`s very difficult. I called it Shchuchka, which is like my last name and the type of fish in Russian. It`s the 360 horizontal twist in the air (from break dance) and you grab the pole without touching the floor.

Give us a sexy floorwork song.
I am not much of sexy floorwork dancer, but my wife loves Sevdaliza`s Haunted

What’s a YouTube pole dance video we should check out?
This is the opening of the last year`s Alex Pole Dance championship that I have choreographed. I wanted to show that pole combines all the dance styles – from ballet to extreme, from sexy to sensual.

Give us a song that makes you want to immediately strip off your clothes and jump on the pole.

Who should we follow on Instagram?
My wife @eleven_kate, she is superstylish, @emilimoskalenko – I believe she is the best thing that has ever happened to pole dance, @pashatheboss - crazy guy

Show us an inspiring image.
This is Sergei Polunin. The dancer from Ukraine that I admire.

Who would you like to see interviewed on the Pole Parlour Podcast?
Olga KODA. She is a lot of fun))))

Thanks so much, Alex! XXX
